10/18/2009 Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name (Live @ Rock In Rio)

"Hallowed Be Thy Name" is a song written by Steve Harris for the 1982 Iron Maiden album The Number of The Beast.

The song describes a man's thoughts just before being sent to the gallows. He begins to feel terror and realizes he really is afraid of dying, despite claims that he's not ("tears flow, but why am I crying?/after all, I'm not afraid of dying/don't I believe that there never is an end?"). At the end of the vocal section, the man gets executed; this is followed by a long instrumental section, culminating in his ambiguous final words, "Hallowed be thy name". When the album "Number of the Beast" was profiled on VH1's Classic Albums, Steve Harris said the song was about "having faith, whether it be in religion or whatever, but could that faith fail you at the last second when you need it most?"

* Bruce Dickinson – vocals
* Dave Murray – guitar
* Adrian Smith - guitar (album version)
* Janick Gers – guitar (live single version)
* Steve Harris – bass guitar
* Clive Burr – drums (album version)
* Nicko McBrain - drums (live single version)

Unskinny Bop

The meaning of "Unskinny Bop", according to band mates of guitarist C.C. DeVille, was a term they coined on the spot when at a rehearsal studio, a drunken DeVille was approached in by a pair overweight prostitutes (a fact somewhat suggested in the music video by DeVille's appearance with a suggestively clad woman on each arm). Upon retreating from the advance, DeVille tripped and hit his head on a solid guitar case, after which he passed out. When the guitarist came to his senses and couldn't remember what had happened, the band mates reported that he had been engaged in the "unskinny bop" with the prostitutes.

9/08/2009 Great White - Once Bitten twice Shy

Twice Shy is a double platinum album by Great White. It was released in 1989 and contained the biggest hits of their career, a cover of Ian Hunter's "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" and "The Angel Song", which reached #5 and #30 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively.

Great White - The Angel Song

Great White is an American hard rock band, formed in Los Angeles in 1978. The band gained popularity during the 1980s and early 1990s. The band released several albums in the late 1980s and gained airplay on MTV with music videos for songs like "Once Bitten, Twice Shy". The band reached their peak popularity with the album ...Twice Shy in 1989.

Van Halen live '1979 Dance The Night Away

"Dance the Night Away" was Van Halen's first top 20 U.S. hit, peaking at #15, and the second song from their 1979 album Van Halen II. While the rest of the songs from this album had existed in some way, shape or form since their days doing demos and playing clubs, this song was possibly the only song written during the recording sessions for the album. Having become a hit in July 1979, the band conceived the song during the recording sessions while the band members were standing in a circle humming to each other. It was inspired by Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way". Eddie Van Halen purposely left a guitar solo out of the final version of the song, replacing it instead with a riff of Tap Harmonics. David Lee Roth originally wanted to call the song "Dance Lolita Dance", but Eddie convinced him that "Dance the Night Away" was more suitable and the chorus was changed to reflect that.[1]

David Lee Roth claimed, during a rant in a 2006 performance in San Diego, California, that he wrote this song in tribute to an intoxicated woman who was having sex in the back of a truck and ran with her pants on backwards into the bar where the fledgling band was playing to escape police officers. This was also mentioned at a 2006 performance in Detroit, Michigan.

9/07/2009 Sweet - Fox on the Run

Sweet
(originally The Sweet) is a British rock band that rose to prominence as one of the main glam rock acts in the 1970s, with the original line-up consisting of Brian Connolly, Steve Priest, Frank Torpey, and Mick Tucker. Torpey was later replaced by Mick Stewart and then by Andy Scott in August 1970.

During the early years of 1971 and 1972, Sweet's musical style followed a marked progression from the Archies-like bubblegum style of the first hit, Funny Funny, to a Who-influenced heavy rock style supplemented by a striking use of high-pitched backing vocals. The band achieved notable success in the UK charts, with thirteen Top 20 hits during the 1970s alone, five reaching #2 and one, Block Buster, reaching #1.

1987- Def Leppard - Animal

"Animal" is a song recorded by British hard rock band Def Leppard in 1987 from the album Hysteria. It was the 2nd single release off the album, and became the band's first Top 10 hit in their home of the United Kingdom.

"Animal" is usually noted by the band as having been the most difficult track to record for Hysteria. Although it was one of the first songs developed in early 1984, neither the band nor the producers who came and went (Jim Steinman, Nigel Green, & Mutt Lange) were able to produce the desired sound until two and a half painstaking years later.

1984 - I can't drive 55 - Sammy Hagar

The song's video includes Sammy and his band being chased and jailed by the California Highway Patrol for traffic violations. A trial scene is presided over by a judge played in a cameo appearance by John Kalodner. The intro to the video includes Sammy driving a black Ferrari BB512i which is later tuned up by Sammy's real mechanic, Claudio Zampolli.

9/03/2009 1986 - Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead or Alive

"Wanted Dead or Alive" is a song from Bon Jovi's 1986 album Slippery When Wet.

The video for the song is black and white and features footage from the band's massive 1986-1987 world tour, including shots from Chicago's UIC Pavilion, Rochester, Minnesota's Mayo Civic Center, and other venues. The video strongly captures the grueling life-on-the-road feeling, with several shots of the exhausted band members on their mammoth 1986-87 Slippery When Wet World Tour.

The audio for the video is slightly different from the one on the album - specifically at the end, where instead of Jon singing "I'm a cowboy, I got the night on my side, I'm wanted dead or alive," the music simply fades out.

9/02/2009 Judas Priest - Diamonds and Rust (live in 1978)

"Diamonds & Rust" is a 1975 song written and performed by Joan Baez.

The song was later covered by Judas Priest, first appearing on Sin After Sin, and later on the Best of Judas Priest, Hero Hero, as well as some remasters of their first album, Rocka Rolla. A live version of the song is on Unleashed in the East. The song remains a staple of Judas Priest live concert performances. In recent years, Priest have been performing a mostly-acoustic version of the song that is more similar to the original than the "rocked up" recorded version. Thanks to this band, many others into Metal genres have covered this song, like Great White and the Finnish Power Metal Band Thunderstone.

Autograph - Turn Up The Radio (Stereo!)

"Turn Up the Radio" is a song by glam metal band Autograph from the album, Sign in Please.

Released in 1984, "Turn Up The Radio" was Autograph's only hit, reaching #29 in the Billboard 100 and receiving massive MTV airplay.

The song was also featured on the soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, on the fictional radio station, VRock.

A demo version of the song appears on the bands "odds and ends" collection entitled Missing Pieces, featuring a slightly different chorus.

The song was named the 93rd best hard-rock song of all time by VH1.

Autograph was formed in 1983 originally as a solo project for singer-songwriter/guitarist Steve Plunkett (also known as "Plunk"), who had recently left the band Silver Condor, due to his frustration with their lack of interest in recording his songs. Plunkett then began playing and recording his own material with a group of his musician friends, most of whom had previously played with him in other bands.

AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long

"You Shook Me All Night Long" is one of AC/DC's signature songs from their most successful album, Back in Black. The song also reappeared on their later album Who Made Who. It is one of the band's top 40 singles, reaching number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in 1980. The single was re-released internationally in 1986 following the release of the album Who Made Who.

There are two versions to the music video. The first version, directed by Eric Dionysius and Eric Mistler[2], is similar to the other Back in Black videos ("Back in Black", "Hells Bells", "What Do You Do for Your Money Honey", "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution", and "Let Me Put My Love Into You") and is only available on the special Back in Black, The Videos which could be obtained by purchasing a recent Back in Black album.

In the second version, directed by David Mallet[3] and released six years after the song's original release, Angus and Malcolm Young follow Brian around, with Angus in his signature schoolboy outfit. This version of the video for "You Shook Me All Night Long" is perhaps one of the most controversial film clips AC/DC ever released. The video clip casts Corinne Russell, a former Hill's Angel and Page 3 Girl, along with other leather clad women with zippers at the groin region of their suits; however, a softer, censored alternative version exists without these shots.

Poison - Every Rose Has Its Thorn - Lyrics

We both lie silently still
In the dead of the night
Although we both lie close together
We feel miles apart inside

Was it something I said or something I did
Did my words not come out right
Though I tried not to hurt you
Though I tried
But I guess thats why they say

Chorus:
Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn

Yeah it does

I listen to our favorite song
Playing on the radio
Hear the dj say loves a game of easy come and
Easy go
But I wonder does he know
Has he ever felt like this
And I know that youd be here right now
If I could have let you know somehow
I guess

Chorus

Though its been a while now
I can still feel so much pain
Like a knife that cuts you the wound heals
But the scar, that scar remains

Solo

I know I could have saved a love that night
If Id known what to say
Instead of makin love
We both made our separate ways

But now I hear you found somebody new
And that I never meant that much to you
To hear that tears me up inside
And to see you cuts me like a knife
I guess

Chorus

8/30/2009 Whitesnake - Is this love Lyrics

I should have known better
Than to let you go alone
It's times like these
I can't make it on my own
Wasted days, and sleepless nights
An' I can't wait to see you again

I find I spend my rime
Waiting on your call
How can I tell you, babe
My back's against the wall
I need you by my side
To tell me it's alright
Cos I don't think I can take anymore

Is this love that I'm feeling
Is this the love that I've been searching for
Is this love or am I dreaming
This must be love
Cos it's really go a hold on me
A hold on me

I can't stop the feeling
I've been this way before
But, with you I've found the key
To open any door
I can feel my love for you
Growing stronger day by day
An' I can't wait too see you again
So I can hold you in my arms
Is this love that I'm feeling
Is this the love that I've been searching for
Is this love or am I dreaming
This must be love
Cos it's really got a hold on me
A hold on me

Is this love that I'm feeling
Is this the love that I've been searching for

Is this love or am I dreaming
